Third Tooth @ 17 Months

Finally, at 17 months, Jayden is having his third tooth!! Yay!!!

His third tooth started to become obvious when we were out shopping for the Nikon D5000 today.. Right after Mommy confirmed the purchase, Mommy saw some white stuffs on Jayden upper gum..

Initially, Mommy was wondering if the white stuff is a tooth.. but for some reasons, Mommy assured herself that it must be an illusion, or perhaps it's just Jayden's saliva reflecting the light or something. However, there was an urge asking Mommy to take a second look.. and Voila!!! There was really a baby tooth!!! :o)

Ummm.. it has been a few months of waiting and finally the tooth is growing again!!! It seems like Jayden is going to continue his journey of more teeth growing.. :o)

First Hair Cut

A history is made!! Jayden has his first hair cut for the very first time in his life in this afternoon at around 12.20pm. Mommy thinks the crew cut makes his little handy man looks kinda cute though.. Hehe.. :P

After two weeks of searching for a good pair of scissor high and low around the area, Mommy finally gave up.. Mommy brought Jayden to a barber shop.

It wasn't planned or intentional, Mommy was searching for the scissors at the row of shops. None of them were selling it!! Suddenly we came across a barber shop and without thinking twice, Mommy walked in with Jayden. :P

When the barber put a big piece of cloth around Jayden, immediately he pulled it away. Then the barber put a small towel around his neck, and again Jayden pulled away. Under such circumstance, the barber decided to cut his hair without wrapping any cloth on him.

Jayden refused to have the barber cut his hair. He didn't allow the barber to touch his hair. He started all his tricks by pulling his hair, rubbing his hair, pulling the barber's fingers, pulling the scissor.. all sort of tricks, you name it. Well, he tried sobbing and crying too..

Thank God the barber is competent enough that he managed to do his job quickly that my little man didn't seem to be a big challenge. It was indeed really quick, if I was not mistaken, it was done within 5-10minutes.

Voila!! This is my little man with his new crew cut look. :o)

Let's Talk!

Today Jayden is in the mood to talk. He tries to imitate most of what I say today.
I am so surprised that Jayden is very interested in his Uncle Lekku too.. whenever Jayden saw his Uncle (Daddy's brother), he will say "mama mama" and point at his Uncle all the time.. as if he was telling me that his Uncle is here.
I will tell him that's "pak pak". There were a few times that he repeats after me.. "pak pak", "pah pah", "bah bah". I think the pronounciation is not bad at all!!!

It's all happened today.. and this takes place when Mommy and Jayden are playing at the frontyard.. Mommy says "dirty".. Jayden says "dir"... Mommy says "dirty" again.. Jayden says "dy"... Mommy says "cut".. Jayden says "krrr".. Not bad at all!!! :o)

Let's play pretend!

Jayden was being naughty.. when Mommy asked him why he behaved in such a way.. He would pretend to be CUTE and said a lot of things with a lot of hand gestures that Mommy didn't understand!!! :S

Even after a few months of dealing with this, be it pouring out all his snacks on the floor or messing up all the folded clothes, Mommy still falls for it!!!
Oh boy.. Mommy FAILS BIG TIME!!

Tricycle

For the passed one week, everytime I pushed Jayden on his tricycle during out outdoor playtime, he demonstrated the ability to manuever the bike.. Initially I thought it was merely coincidence, though it had been quite a couples of times he did it.

However, after a week of pushing and his skills were getting a lot better!! He knew exactly when to turn and he would turn based on his own decision, of where he wanted to go. These couples of days, his skills had improved very much that most of the time he made perfect turns even in narrow runway (without running into objects) like in between cars, wall and the cars, or even pot plants!!! :o)

The bike has definitely helped to expose him to his newly acquired skills! :o)

Final Jab of Pneumococol

After months of procrastination, we finally brought Jayden to have his final jab of Pneumococol vaccination. For some reasons, the doctor chose to go against the norm of injecting it to his butt, the injection was done on his thigh.

For the very first time, Jayden cried when taking a jab. Poor boy!! I feel like crying too seeing him crying pitifully. :o(

After we got out from the doc's room, we let Jayden wander around the clinic as usual and engage his attention to the toys. After walking for a while, he sobbed and cried a bit, well not really a loud one but you can tell there was discomfort. Well, I guessed it was really painful then. :(

When we got home, I gave him a little snack and let him play for a while before putting him for a nap. Apparently he has lost his appetite hence he didn't eat well. Anyway, his nap was more important as it has passed his naptime.

Shocking News: He slept for almost 3 hours!!! He woke up with a smile so I was glad knowing it will be an easy time for us. :o) I gave him some food but again, he didn't have much appetite so I didn't force him. He played for about an hour plus before I decided to let him do a little bit of art works.

Initially he was very excited. But for some reason, after setting up our work area, he started walking away to the bed. I tried carrying him back to the work area for a few times and he kept walking away and started feeling grumpy. He wanted to be carried onto the bed. I did as I was "told". :P

Well, the cries of discomfort started soon after. After hustling for about half an hour, I finally asked him what's happening to him. He couldn't express his feeling to me. I felt bad for him too. Then I remembered he had an injection earlier today! I asked him if his thigh hurts, pointing at his thigh. He started showing me some kind of facial expression and hand gestures without his hand touching his thigh. Amazing body language huh!! Now I knew his pain!

I invited him to go for a walk. Out of the ordinary, he refused to come off the bed without being carried (normally he prefers the other way). I tried comforting him by carrying him but it didin't seem to work really well, because my hand was holding on his thigh. :o( Hence I put him on his tricycle and pushed him around. We had some fun singing nursery rhymes and having some fun rides. :o)

Time passed by quickly and it's time for dinner. He didn't eat as much. When it came to bathing time, it was a real hard time because he couldn't stand!! When I dried him on the bed, he wasn't moving at all from me getting the diapers to the clothes to everything. It's so not my little Jayden!! It's really not easy throughout the whole process because I tried to minimize the chances of carrying or moving him knowing it hurt A LOT A LOT!!!

Finally Barney's time is up. For the very first time, he watched Barney with a grumpy feeling and continuous cries of discomfort. What's worst was he was watching Barney lying down.. WITHOUT MOVING!!!. He couldn't even sit up and watch. When it came to his fav songs and he couldn't dance, he got frustrated, sobbed, then cried!! My heart is painfully broken. :'(

Occasionally he lifted up his hands showing me that he wanna hug and be carried. I hugged him and whenever I tried to carry him, he would cry. Then I knew his pain is unbearable. So it's better not to move him. Knowing his situation, Daddy made effort to come home to see Jayden.

Jayden was pleased and happy to see Daddy. Daddy played with Jayden (lying down not moving his bottom half) and he got cheered up! I am extremely happy. :o) But the happiness didn't last very long as whenever he got really excited and happy, he would accidentally moved his legs. And the pain was killing!! After a few incidents, he finally sobbed and cried slightly. I decided to put him to bed.

Finally he is sleeping peacefully. I am praying to God that the pain will be gone NOW!!! I pray that Jayden will wake up with a HUGE SMILE in the morning and all the pain that occurs today stays in today. :o)

Modelling for Disney Bikes

Jayden was invited to be the youngest toddler for the coolest bikes in town: the DISNEY BIKES & SCOOTERS!! It was an outdoor shooting at a park at TTDI where the kids had a lot of fun test driving the bikes and scooters. :P

Attached are the pictures that I received from the shooting, they don't give us anymore so I'm kinda really sad!!! :o(

I really love this pix a lot!! :o)

COOL Boy!! :P

Hmm.. I think.. Mommy was right...

Jayden has finally realized that there are things that sound alike! Normally, he would normally point to the objects that he liked and got me to tell him what they're called. Else, I would be saying a name and he would point the object out.

One fine day, while we were reading as usual, I was saying "chick" so he pointed to the chick picture, then he pointed to his cheek and I told him it was "cheek". Well I guess for a young toddler both "chick" and "cheek" may sound almost alike. Then, he started giving me a "confused" look as if "Mommy, you have made a mistake!!!!!"

To clear his confusion, he was smart enough to point to the "chick" again, followed by the "frog" and then to his "cheek"!!! Then, he gave me a "Oh.. so.. you didn't make a mistake" look!!!!

Oh boy oh boy.. What an experience for Mommy!! :P

Soooooooooooooo CUTE!!!!!

I can never forget the anxious, eager, 'ganjiong' look on Jayden's face. Jayden was alone in the bedroom when suddenly he rushed out to the living room looking for me with my phone on his hand, and talked in a language that I was yet to understand!!!

I can tell that it should be my phone ringing and he wanna tell me that I have an incoming call! However, instead of making it Mommy-knows-it-all, I pretended to be shocked and not knowing anything by asking him "Oh.. what is it Jayden???"

He became more anxious and walked even faster, if he could, he would have run!! And the look on his face was SooooooooOOOOoooooo CUTE!! When he handed the phone to me, I was like "Oh my phone is ringing!! Thank you so much Jayden!!"

And guess what's next??? He clapped his hands and give me a huge heart melting SMILE!!!! Awwwwwwwww.... I was super melted!! He was just tooOOOooooo CUTE!!! :o)

Happy Learning

It's soon going to touch 2 weeks since I started teaching Jayden at home. Jayden has picked up a lot of things. In less than a full week, he has been picking up a lot more skills and knowledge. He can identify more than 20 new things, and he knows which alphabet is turned upside down. I am surprised by the speed that he learned.

From the swimming session that we thrive to have every weekend, Jayden begins to get used to water play. He is no longer as "sceptical" as before that water is not fun! He used to scream whenever there is even a drop of water falling down his forehead. Now, I can even shower him from the top (of course just for a quickie!), and just have to reassure him that I am getting the towel after placing the shower head on the handle.

Not just that, he has definitely become a more confident child just from the swimming sessions. During our last swimming session, he has gathered his confidence to put his hands into the water and stroke, splashed, etc. We plan to have more sessions of outdoor activities for him each week, then it will be perfect. :o)

Jayden is playing with playdough today! Yay!! He tries to imitate my moves by using the tools and gadgets that I used. It's really fun seeing him getting the tools and putting the dough inside trying to create something out of it. However, the session didn't hold him long as he gets bored quickly when he couldn't seem to get the result anywhere close to mine. Hehehe..

Comparing to the passed 4 months of sending Jayden to playschool, undeniably he has learned new stuffs from school but obviously he learns more when I educate and facilitate our learning properly. Still, the most important thing is that we are learning with loads of fun now. I thank God every now and then for giving me the wisdom to make this decision, and giving so much fun, joy and happiness to my beloved child again!! :o)

The Start of Home Schooling

Taking care of children in the conventional way is just so not my style. I strongly disagree with the tradional/conventional way of babysitting which most of the Nannies do.

With the exposures, skills and experiences that I have gathered and learned from SAL, I decided to home school Jayden by myself. Afterall, I think I am pretty good in handling the class as the Principal was asking me to join them fulltime and take over a new class by myself! Yes, I was promoted!! (Of course I turned her down!)

We started home schooling since last week. It was rather a relaxed and casual schedule. It's definitely very much less intense than school, as I breakdown the schedule into different segments throughout the day. It's rather enjoyable as Jayden always initiates to pick up the books and educational materials as well as some fun play. :P

I am currently reading a book on Montessori to learn more ideas on how to promote and facilitate Montessori learning. Will definitely get/borrow more good books to enhance my knowledge. :o)
