Morning After

This morning, I let JJ play with the remaining of his birthday cake.. I know he has been eyeing on the figurines for long.. Hehehe

Well.. You can imagine everything that he can do to the figurines.. touch, pinch, squeeze, lick, mouth, tear, throw, yes and many more actions.. Hehe.. You are right!! Our friend Stitch ended being torn into pieces by our little boss Jayden. :P

JJ also wanna know what presents he received! Thus, he started with the present from mommy and daddy. Well, he picked! Not me!! I'm glad!!! Hehehe. :P And since daddy said he wanna join in the "Presie Time" too, we didn't go on further, only uncovered the birthday gift from Daddy and Mommy. :)

We postponed the presents sessions to the evening session when Daddy got back from work. However, Daddy didn't turn up as he has to work OT again!!! We will just have to wait another day.. Haihz..

Frankly, I really can't wait to open all the presents.. Well, I have never received so many presents before in my entire life!! And I mean added together!!! That's why I am so excited to have the Presents Time!! LOLs!! Fingers crossed we will be able to uncover what's beneath all the wrapping papers tomorrow!! I can't wait!! Opps.. I think JJ too.. Heheheh.. :P

The Birthday Boy

Jayden is officially 1 year today! :) Am so happy about it. We had a blessed morning and blessed party!! We've a blessed cake too!! :)

JJ recognized Stitch the moment I took our the cake.. And he smiled!! He also wanted to grab and lick the cake.. Hehehe.. :P Meanwhile, all our guests love the cake so much.. especially the kids!! There were a few adults and a few kids sticking to the cake for more than an hour..

The adults were busy taking pictures and the kids were busy talking about the features of the cake and how cute it was.. Then, there was one kid came to me and asked "Is the birthday baby called Jayden?" Cuz Jayden's name is largely patched in the cake.. :P

JJ also received a lot of presents from a lot of friends.. and some angpows too.. We had a friend taking pictures for us.. I am gonna upload the pictures in FB.. so STAY TUNE!! :P

We had lots of fun.. We'd a rather small crowd today.. a lot of friends showed up and a lot of friends didn't show up too.. I really don't like it when there are quite a bit of food leftover.. it's wasted.. I wouldn't mind if they just inform that they are not coming earlier so we wouldn't have to waste so much food.

Just wanna put it here, I am very disappointed with the food prepared by the cafe, it is lousy. Well, I wish not elaborate more because this is supposed to be a happy thingy.. but I will never go back again. :P

Well, it was a fun bash and it is so meaningful to us.. Thanks all friends for coming.. Love you all. :)

The Last Countdown

Finally, it is the last day of counting down to Jayden's birthday.. The BIG BOY day is tomorrow!! I can't tell how excited I am but I am anxious to see everyone celebrating with JJ. Not sure if JJ is looking forward to it.. It sounds more like my birthday.. :P

The cafe is yet to get back to me. I am worried what kind of menu they are giving me.. Anyway.. that's the cafe's worry not me.. Oh, I've collected Jayden's cake today.. it looks awesome.. I gonna post it in FB after the party.. Keep it a little surprise for everyone.. Hehehe.. :P

Games

A few more days JJ will turn one. I am very excited about it. Hehehe..

At this stage, JJ enjoys to push, throw, and knock everything down. He enjoys seeing things fall and I guess he thinks it's fun! Hehe.. Recently, he took my handphone and.. well, he still put it into his mouth most of the time but he do babbles at the phone.. I think he knows that he can speak thru (or to???) it. :p

As reckon by a friend, I tried using some sign language with JJ. Whenever I said "give me, give me", I will reach out my hand and surprisingly after a few times, he gives me the toy!! Yay!! And vice versa, but everytime before I even blurted out "nah, give you" he already reached his hand for the toy.. Hahaha

JJ also likes games where he can put smaller things into the bigger things (containers/bags). So, he enjoys putting his toys in the toys bag, and then dump them out. He loves to dump everything out from the bag especially the diapers!!! He will throw them everywhere and make sure he scatters them on the floor!!

Gymboree

I am very happy today. We had a very fun, fruitful and completely satisfying afternoon.

I have been very excited about today for the passed one week.. because I have arranged for Jayden to attend a trial class at Gymboree! It was a great experience! :)

As a new mommy, I know nothing about raising up a child. But I totally agree and believe in early education especially the first few years of childhood including infancy. Thus, I have been doing a lot of researches and findings about early childhood education.

As far as a true believer of early education, since JJ turned 6months, I have been wanting to enrol him to play and learn classes so he can explore more about the new world he has been "brought" into. However, there were times that I hold back and think twice, partially due to financial incompetence as I am no longer having a consistent income.

Not just that, I also believe that I would be able to learn more especially in how to educate JJ as well as how I should behave and what I should do in controlling my EQ so not to have any negative or wrong input that may affect JJ's upbringing.

A visit to Gymboree let me experienced and learned, though it was just a short 45 minutes session. And the most amazing thing is, JJ learned a lot! It has been months I was trying to get him to wave goodbye and he just refused to do so. By this one visit to 'play and learn' session, JJ surprised me by waving goodbye happily and excitedly to the participating "teachers"!!

When I bathed him just now, I sang him songs that I have been singing to him for months (which were so happened also being sang in the class just now). This time, JJ responded very differently from normal times. He smiled and laughed as if he remembered the fun he was having in the center!

I am very happy with my decision to sign up for the membership at Gymboree and I am committed to bring JJ there as I know this is definitely a means for me to learn together with him.

Not just that, I really do not wish to waste his first few years, well, I did not utilized his first year wisely and I know I cannot rewind time and do it again. I really do not want to waste more time and regret more.

I seriously think that I am in the right frame of mind and clear about my decision after having a deep thought about it for the passed 6 months!! When I tried to share this happiness with hubby just now (Yes, I was too excited!), I am shocked I was being discouraged.

First, I was discouraged that I would not be committed to it. Second, I was discouraged that it might not be suitable for JJ. (I thought it's not tuitions and all, just play and learn???). Third, I was discouraged that I am doing this because I compare with other mommies.. What does it mean? Yup, that's exactly what I asked. And the answer is.. I am being KIASU.. Huh??? What??? Did I hear it clearly??

I never want compare my son with other's but I do share with other mommies about raising child and learn from them what and how I can do better (as I feel I am a pretty dummy mommy esp on my EQ). I never thought of comparing my son but I rather compare myself with other mommies and feel that I am incompetent to educate, thus I need to learn so I can do the right thing at home! I do not want to teach my son the way I was being brought up.. is this all wrong??

Is my determination and dedication considered KIASU? I never ever thought I would be labelled that way.. esp by my own husband, who I thought will fully support me in my decision. I feel very disappointed and kinda devastated. Now that I know that only I share this excitement with myself, but again, I have no regret in signing up for the classes. I will find more money to continue giving this to Jayden, my little precious.

Mommy loves you Jayden. :)

Table Food

Today is the second day since JJ has been taking table food continuously. Since he refused to take porridge all the time, MIL has decided not to cook porridge for JJ anymore. Hence, I have been trying to give JJ rice, vege, meat (very little), fish and anything that is served to us in the family and suitable to be eaten by JJ.

There are some food that I need to mash or make into small pieces before feeding him as he has no teeth!! :P Since I started feeding him rice and other adult food, I have also been monitoring him closely. Thank god, he is still having normal bowel movement, and he seems happier with his new menu!!!

I think its probably time for JJ to move from baby food to adult food now, just need to be careful on the amount of sugar and sodium intake. :)

Cheer Me Up

This is something that I must record down.. It's been happening for a while and I thought I have written it in blog.. Just found out I did not!!! Well, it always makes my day whenever I think of his smiles and his efforts in doing this.. Heheh.. :P

For the passed 1-2weeks, whenever I showed JJ an angry look, he would do all sort of things to cheer me up. Guess what he did?? Heheh.. :P

Well, I always show him an angry look whenever he repeatedly doing something not right even though I keep on explaining to him that it is not right to do it. It's only when I give him such a face that he will stop being naughty.. and then, he will keep smiling at me, laughing at me and showing me his favorite move - GongXi GongXi - because he knows I like it when he did it. :P

However, at some point that I don't smile or laugh back, he will laugh harder with a little bit of scream.. If I do not change my expression, he will then pause for a while, brainstorming for ideas to make me laugh. Well, he might not notice the pause but for adults like us, it appears too obvious for us. Hahaha.. Then, he will smile and laugh again, and then climb towards me, tilt up his head and laugh hard again!! LOL!!

Well, I think I shouldn't be too harsh to a baby like him so normally I will smile back and laugh with him, give him a hug and tell him not to repeat it in the future.

Afterall, I just want him to learn a lesson rather than fear him or punish him. And I think he has learned it, thought he might repeat it in the future, and we just need to remind and remind till it's imprinted in his mind. :)

Biscuit JJ

Just now, JJ and I have friend MeeHoon (rice noodle) for breakfast. JJ didn't eat a lot therefore, I gave him some biscuits after the breakfast.

He enjoyed his first biscuit so much that I thought he was still hungry. Thus, I gave him another biscuit. Then, I found out that he enjoyed the second biscuit more.. He bit (yes, teethless bites) the second biscuit like he was so hungry too. Later did I find out that for every bite he took, he pushed the biscuits out of his mouth with his tongue. It was such a mess!!!

After finished "Playing" with the biscuit, I wiped him clean. There is some biscuits stains on his clothes but I thought it might be better to just leave it because I will have to feed him porridge later. Yup, never clean during feeding time since he learned to push out food with his tongue. :P

And now, he smells great... he smells like biscuits.. and I feel like eating him up! Muahaha.. :P

JJ loves Books

Lately, Jayden also shows an interest in books. He always in search for his books and enjoys looking at books and leafing through the pages, though turning those pages one by one doesn't always happen yet..

Whenever he finished flipping thru the pages, he will give a big smile, tilt up his head and laugh. Also, many times, he would look at me and snap his hand on the book cover and smile happily..

I think that's his gestures and sign language perhaps.. He looked at me for recognition and that he is very happy and satisfied that he had finished reading a book!!! :P

Wordlike Sounds

Moving in from 11months to 12 months, JJ starts to spill out wordlike sounds.. Yup.. the babbles start to sound like words.. :)

And the most amazing thing is that he starts to be able to associate them or able to use some of them meaningfully. As a way to encourage him to speak, I always respond to his sounds. He likes it whenever I show interests in what he has to say. :)

For the passed many days (since I stop blogging), JJ managed to babbles "words" that sounds like this: "ka ka"as in "car car", "ummm" means food, "dark dark" as for "duck duck"..

Well, the accuracy of the word choice is yet to be achieved because he got it right few times, and sometimes when I asked him he just pretended not to hear it or he was just too busy to entertain me. :P

Oh lately JJ also makes lots of "M" sounds.. Does that indicate he shall call Mommy soon!?!? Hahaha.. :P

One funny thing that happened "right from the oven".. Just now he tried to follow me to say the word "finished" and all he managed to voice out is "ish... kirr... ichhh" Anywhere close?? But it is so funny to see him trying.. So cute!! :)

In and Out of Cot

Jayden enjoys climbing in and out between his cot and my bed now. It is sometimes very dangerous as the other side of the cot is totally unguarded! I am so worried that he may trip to the other side especially now he likes to lean forward to grab things.

Will get hubby to lower the cot so JJ will not climb in. Afterall, it might be a good idea to put him inside the cot so he can't climb out and wander around. Muahaha.. I am a wicked mommy.. :P
