29 months!

Happy 29 months to Jayden!!! Today Jayden turns 29 months. Hehehe.. :P

I guess I have a lot of off records milestone yet to be written down.. LOLs.. Anyway, here are a few that suddenly struck my mind..
  1. Jayden can regocnize most basic color: red, green, blue, black, white, pink, grey, brown, yellow, orange, purple.. any other basic colors? :P
  2. Jayden can recognize and name all alphabets A-Z and numbers 1-10. He can even name 1-10 in Mandarin too. :o)
  3. Jayden knows all his classmates by names and some of the seniors of different class too. :o)
  4. Jayden can recognize almost all body parts namely hair, head, eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, nose, cheek, chin, forehead, neck, shoulder, underarm, hand, fingers, chest, tummy, penis, butt, leg, thigh, knee, toes, nails.. I think that's it! :P
  5. Jayden's verbal development is still ranging from 2-6words sentences. There could be more once in a bluemoon.. :o)
  6. Everyday after school, Jayden will tell me stories about incidences that take place at school. It is interesting how he see how he gradually develops and improves on his verbal skills.. :o)
  7. Jayden can put on his pants by himself. Sometimes he insists to get it done by himself, sometimes he just wants help for no reasons. Attention deficit! Dang! :P
  8. Potty training has been perfect! For the very first time, Jayden has leakage due to holding his urine for too long while playing at school.. He has a new habit now.. he refuses to go for a toilet break till he no longer can hold it.. Sigh!! :S
  9. As for gross motor skills, Jayden is pretty good. He can now handle small things more easily, hold a cup single handed (since a while ago), put on and take off his shoes with ease (many months ago), stacking blocks without problems, and the list goes on... :o)
  10. Jayden has also picked up some negative behaviors from school (after being bullied several times) especially disturbing friends, hitting friends, pushing, yelling, snatching and tantrums. There is good and bad, good is he knows how to protect himself, bad is, it's all negative behaviors! LOLs.. I am doing my best in disciplining him and it seems to get better each day. But at the same time, mommy has to work on her temper cuz she gets really fused up easily due to mood swing. :o(
  11. Despite the negatives, Jayden also learns the art of sharing now. He somestimes does share toys with his friends. :o)
  12. Jayden's attention span is considerably long for his age. He can get so engrossed with his play that he can play a game/toy for as long as an hour! Impressive! :o)
  13. Jayden can differentiate boys and girls now. :o)

Counting 1,2,3

Last week while on the way back from school, Jayden was counting 1,2,3 in the car.. I am again, amazed! I have always been encouraging him to count but for some reasons he only managed to count 1-3.

This time, he was counting 1-10 all by himself, surprisingly is... out of the blue!! I am glad that he can count till 10 by himself.

Just now, he got me a few books and one of them is the counting book. I wanted to test him again, so I asked him to count the numbers of fish in one of the page. He pointed at a fish and started counting..

He did it again!! He counted from 1-10 again! I am impressed. :o)

Puzzles Time

During the last hour at Small Apple just now, I let the toddlers have some puzzles fun. Jayden was surprisingly focused this time.

He had always been an attention seeker in putting the so-called complicated puzzles. I always believe he can fix them together by himself but he just wanted to grab my attention for some reasons.

Anyway, this time, he did put up the 12pieces puzzles all by himself!!! I am proud of him!! Not just that, he then took another set and put together all the 12pieces again!! Altogether, he had completed 3 sets of 12-pieces puzzles before we called it a day. :o)

Even though I believe he can do it by himself since few weeks ago, I am still very impressed. That's mommy.. I guess.. Hehehe.. :P

Bug Bug Go Away

Oh no.. Jayden is having flu again.. This time is a really serious one.. Well, I mean the running nose comes with severe coughing.. :o(

Jayden has never been having terrible cough like this previously.. And it gets me worried about him somehow. He has difficulties in sleeping at night, nevertheless the mommy gets many many restless nights.. :o(

I tried on a herb medicine from him and the moment he took it, he said "lat lat". It must be due to the peppermint. He doesn't like the feeling of it and think that it is too "spicy" for him.. I hope I get better luck to get him to take it again today..

Fingers cross his cough will go away asap!

Sweet Talk

I guess my little sonny has inherited a sweet tongue from his daddy.

While I was styling my hair at the mirror in the walk-in closet, Jayden was calling me from the living room. I told him that I wasn't free at the moment and would come over when done.

Then, he came into the room and looked for me. When he saw me, he smiled and said "Mommy nice!!"

I think that's a KILLER!! So I ended up feeling happy and without wasting more time in styling, I followed him out. :P

Tag! It's mine!

Recently, I found out that there was a sticker on the DVD player. Guess what sticker was it? It's Jayden's sticker with his name on!!!

I have always been educating him to put a sticker on his belonging especially those that are mobile and he would carry together with him during outings. Hence he has stickers on his water tumbler, pocket books, toys, etc.

And since God knows when, he had his sticker on the DVD player!!! I did not realize it at all until few days ago. Now I know why he never allows us to watch any DVD on the player.

Everytime we have a movie on, he would eject the disc out without asking and put on his all time fav Thomas & Friends. Then, he would turn around, point to the TV, smile and shout Thomas!!! (Like we have been longing to watch it so badly like him!!)

A very very interesting incident!

It was about 8.30pm, we were on the way home from school. Jayden was asking for more rice cracker after taking 5 pieces, I was kinda reluctant but I still handed one to him. I found the rice cracker a bit crooked but couldn't take a good look at it as I was busy driving.

Then Jayden spoke out loud: "Whale! Whale!!"

Then I said: "Huh?? Whale? Are you sure?" All these while, I haven't been noticing any whale figures along the way back! So I was busy looking around trying to spot where was the whale Jayden was talking about.

Jayden replied: "Okay" (His version of "yes").
Mommy: "But where?"
He lifted up the rice cracker in the air and said "Whale!!"

Only then I noticed that the crooked rice cracker did have the shape of the whale.. Of course, I then praised him for his creativity and being able to spot the shape of the whale. LOLs

When we were about 5minutes away from home, suddenly he shouted out loud again: "Pig! Pig!"

I was like: "Huh?? Pig?? Where on earth is there a pig here? Are you sure Jayden?"

Then he again lifted up his partially eaten rice cracker in the air and said "Pig!"

I was like: "Oh wow! It does look like a pig!! You bite it so nicely that it turns to a pig shape? Well done Jayden!"

And I tell you what, it did look very very much like a pig! I was in so much disbelief that I took his rice cracker and looked again twice! LOLs.

I am still not sure if he did it by accident, or he really did creatively "crafted" the pig shape.

Finally we were home and Jayden has not bitten a bit of his pig shape rice cracker. He was still holding his "pig" rice cracker when he was all ready for a shower.

I then told him: "Jayden you need to finish off your pig rice cracker, else it will be all wet when I shower you."

Very quickly, he bit off all of it. Then he said while gesturing: "Pig gone!"

It is indeed a very very interesting incident, and I enjoy every bit of the conversation between us. He is sooo funny!!! LOLs :o)

Weaning or Not?

Very soon Jayden will turn 2.5y/o. I was initially planning to wean off my little baby when he is around 2.5years and now it seems the time is approaching soon. However, I found no reason to wean him off, considering he is still allergic to cow's milk.

I guess the answer will still be no for the moment. I might only wean him off when we are planning for #2. Let's hope I can produce a better immunity milk so Jayden will grow out of his food allergies as soon as possible. :o)

Impressive ABC

It's my first time introducing ABCs to the young toddlers at Small Apple. To my surprise, most of them are not familiar with the alphabets, or they are not exposed to ABCs at home?

Other than the 4 years old, the only one that can recognize ABCs is our little friend, Jayden! I am very impressed that he can name almost all of the alphabets, previously he just pointed to them while this time he amazed me by naming them. :o)

It becomes a very important role for me to be their educator, and guess it is time for me to brush up some of their knowledge by exposing more things to them.. :o)

Singing time

Jayden is singing a lot lately!! Most of the time, he will request me to turn on his favorite CDs so he can sing along. He has been "working hard" on the lyrics but I am very glad that he picks up quite a bit on them. Oh not just that, most of the time, he will dance along too, in his way of dance moves! :o)

His fav nursery rhymes that he often insists to be played (so he can sing along) are:
1. Twinkle twinkle little star
2. Teddy bear
3. Looby loo
4. The wheels on the bus
5. If you're happy clap your hands
6. Itsy Bitsy spider
7. ABC
8. Polly put the kettle on
9. Ring a ring a rosie
