Jayden and School Life

Though it is only Jayden's second day at Hummingbird Learning House, he has become more cheerful and vibrant than his usual self! I always caught him singing or humming song by himself these two days. He wakes up with huge smiles, happy laughter and delighted pitches! Oh, he even giggles and laughs so loudly in his sleep which he hasn't been doing for a long time! :P

Guess what, I can even use Hummingbird as a reason to get him to do the "do" and "don't" i.e. bath, sleep, etc. I always encourage him to use the words "please" and "thank you" but he always forgot.. Now, I don't have to remind him now cuz he uses "please", "thank you" and "welcome" at ease now! I also notice he is using some new words! Yay!

I know my decision never goes wrong when:

1. He keeps telling me he wanna go to Hummingbird;
2. He never cries when I leave him at school;
3. He doesn't run to me the moment I pick him up but engage in his activities or even if he does, he will pull me to participate in his activity instead of asking me to go home.

I am very sure I have chosen the best playschool for Jayden. Thank you Hummingbird, Teacher Meithin, Ms kelly, Uncle Jason, and all the others at Hummingbird! :o)

Conversation of the Day

Something I asked Jayden this morning..

Mommy: Jayden, do you wanna go to Hummingbird school?

Jayden: No.. Hummingbird.

Mommy: Do you wanna go to Hummingbird Playschool??

Jayden: No.. Hummingbird.

Mommy: Do you wanna go to Hummingbird?

Jayden: Hmm.. (nod his head)

Day 2 @Hummingbird Learning House

Day 2 @Humingbird: Jayden is doing GREAT!!

Just like the first day, the experience is a great and easy one. *touch wood* I am thankful!! :o)

Jayden wasn't ready to go to bed last nite, though it was already 10pm. So I told him, "if you are not going to sleep now, we are not going to Hummingbird tomorrow." Immediately, he lie on the bed and got himself ready to sleep. Closed his eyes.. peeped.. closed again.. peeped again... closed.. peeped.. and so on, until he finally dozed off at around 1030pm.

Throughout the night, I heard him giggled for numerous times. It has been a long time I din hear him giggling in his sleep. Though it did happened.. but it was once in a blue moon! Then, he woke up at 6am, having hard time going back to sleep, until he finally dozed off at 630am.. Phew!!!

At 830am, Jayden was still asleep.. I have no choice but to wake him up else we will be very late.. He woke up grumpy.. but once I told him that we are going to Hummingbird, his emotion changed.. Woke up right away, cleaned up and changed... and... all ready to go!!!

On our way there, I made a detour as the heavy downpour caused traffic congestions. He noticed it and started telling me to go to Hummingbird. I needed to explain to him that we were going to Hummingbird with another route. :P

Just like the first day, no cry.. no struggly.. no hassle.. It was an easy one.. I just told him that Mommy's gotta go.. and he said "Bye", and I needed to insist for a hug and goodbye kiss!! OMG.. Pathetic mom I am!

During pick up time, I went in and he was busy drawing.. He just took a glance at me and didn't even bother to come and give me a hug!! I think I lost my privilege here.. :P

So far, everything goes smoothly and I am very grateful that no seperation anxiety is involved. In fact, I am shocked as well as everyone, especially MIL. We all know how clingy Jayden is with me. Anyway.. I am grateful! :o)

I can tell that he is a very happy camper since school started. :o)

First Day @ Hummingbird Playschool

Wow!!! Today is Jayden first day of school!! Unbelievable!! My little Jayden is growing up!!! :o)

For the passed one month since our first visit to Hummingbird, he has been telling me that he wanna go to Hummingbird almost everyday. Finally.. it's his first day of school today. :o)

We had a great experience on the first day of school!! Early in the morning, I have to wake up at 6am plus to cook and prepare his snack, lunch and things to bring to school. Just when I am done with everything, Jayden walked out of the bedroom at 8.15am having Bluey in his hand. I asked him if he wanna go to Hummingbird and he nodded his head gently.

Next, he insisted to get changed and (insisted to) pick his fav clothes and shoes. After taken his milk, we embarked our journey. With the heavy rain and congested traffic, it took us about 35minutes to reach there. Yup, we were late by 15minutes.

I was there for about 5-10minutes before making a move. Surprisingly, Jayden never cried when I left.. and he looked perfectly great when I picked him up. To make things worse, I was late by 20minutes as I was stuck at home with the TM contractors fixing the Unifi (high speed broadband). I had a little talk with Teacher Meithin after school.

Anyway, today is just his first day of school.. We shall see his progress for the entire week to see how he's adapting to school life.. Am excited and looking forward to it!! :o)

A little note from Teacher Meithin:

Jayden can play all by himself, yet to learn the art of sharing, and he doesn't talk much (too quiet - as she notices that Jayden is a different person when he is being with me).

Other than that, he is perfectly fine. He is playing and blending into the system well.. snacking, lunching were not a problem at all.

Weaning Off

I guess it is a sign of weaning off naturally.. or baby led weaning.. :o)

Recently, I have not been breastfeeding Jayden as frequent as before. Only 1-3 times a day.. Sometimes, only 1 time that is the feeding before sleep.

For some reasons, Jayden has been asking for his favorite 'green tea oat milk' in the morning instead of breastmilk, and when he requests for midnight milk, I just have to tell him that mommy doesn't have any milk anymore and he will settle down with just some water. If he happens to be too hungry, he will ask for his fav 'green tea oat milk' again. :P

I like how this whole weaning process works.. gradually and naturally.. Hope someday soon Jayden will tell mommy he doesn't wanna drink breastmilk before sleep.. Heheheh.. :o)

Hop, Jump, Leap

After months of timid trial, our little buddy did it.. Finally.. Jayden can jump with two feet leaving the ground!!!! Yay!!! Hehehe..

I got him to show Daddy yesterday and Daddy said.. "are you hopping or jumping??" Daddy should have said more encouraging words! Afterall, it is all his hardwork.. LOLs

He had also learned that frogs leap!! Every now and then, he will pretend to be a leaping frog! Not just that, he loves to play pretend.. whenever he sees any animal pose in a book, he will imitate exactly the same pose and tell me what he is.. LOLs

He is just tooooooo cute.. :o)

Weight Gain

For some reasons, Jayden has very low weight gain since he turned 6months, which is quite worrisome for Mommy..

I have not been weighing him for a long long time as every result was the same! Hehe.. Anyway, I "accidentally" took out the weighing scale the other day and here is the result: 22lbs (about 10kg). I was like.. "Finally he is 10!!"

Wonder why my reaction?? Well, on my record, for the passed one year plus, this was what I got:

Total gain from 12mth - 24mth = 0.5kg (From 9kg to 9.5kg)

Total gain from 24mth - 28mth = 0.5kg (From 9.5kg to 10kg)

Isn't it something to celebrate!? :o)

Flood Flood and More Flood!!

For the passed couples of days, there have been floods in our house!!! To be exact, there were floods in the bathrooms!!!

I have been trying to catch the culprit (though we know who!!! :P) red handed, but for some reasons, he was quick! He always got himself out before I caught him.

Even though sometimes his shirt might be a little wet, but he was out of the bathroom. And when I asked him what happened to his shirt and who did the mess, he will always point to the huge puddles of water and say "Oh!! Wet!! All wet!!"

Next time, I will try not to call his name when searching for him, so he will not get any signal of my attack!! :P
